This will allow you to see everything at a glance: the course titles, the recommended grades for each course, and the dates/times for when each course is offered.


STEP #2: 2018 Courses Information

As you read each course title on your Course Overview sheet and want to know the details of the course, click on the grade of your child and click again on the corresponding course title. This will allow you to choose each course according to date and grade.


  • Clayworks Level 2 – Cara Moore (I/M, Art) $185

    Clay, one of God's wonderful creations, has been used since ancient times to create functional as well as artistic pieces. From ancient Greek pottery to modern figurines, clayworks is an expression of the heart, mind and soul. Come fine tune your sculpting skills and let your creative juices flow as we build on skills learned in clayworks 1, create some super cool 3D pieces and try our hands at Hypertufa with clay. This camp will be more technique and precision focused in our masterpieces made of kiln fire clay and polymer clay.

    NOTE: Due to the time process of clay and glazing, I invite all children signed up in Clayworks 2 to join me the following Tuesday after Clayworks 2 has finished in the art room during the lunch hour to our glazing party. This is a chance to glaze unfinished projects for a finished look and repair any broken pieces. Final pickup will be the Thursday following the end of Clayworks 2 during the lunch hour or at 4pm.

    Jr NBA Basketball – Rainier Casido (I/M, Sports) $120

    Come and join an active basketball camp this summer where your child will engage in skill development and games all while having fun! Although this camp will be building on some skills learned in 'mini-dribblers', it is open to all experience and levels, whether it is your child's first time picking up a basketball, or if they can dribble in and out between their legs blindfolded, all are welcome! Our experienced coach has played basketball all his life and has coached kids of all ages for more than 10 years. Sign-up today to reserve your spot.

    Digital Photography and Photobook Design – Evelyn Ford (I/M, Photography) $155

    This camp is two camps in one: Digital Photography & Photobook Design!

    Digital Photography: Do you like to take pictures but would like to get more creative with your camera? This camp will cover equipment, basic settings, composition and light. We will be taking a field trip to Fort Langley where photo ops are around every corner. Students need to bring a camera; any camera will do, but a digital point-and-shoot or DSLR camera is recommended.

    Photobook Design: Does your family gather around the computer to look at vacation photos? Are all your photos still in digital form? Wouldn’t it be terrific to have a custom-made photo album, designed by YOU, on your coffee table for everyone to enjoy? In this course, we are going to create and publish digital press-printed photo albums. You will learn about design, colour theme, font styles and most-importantly, story-telling. Your friends and family will be astounded when they discover that you made it yourself! Choose a theme such as a birthday party, a family vacation, your friends, or even the pictures that you take in this camp. All the tools, teaching and software that you need will be provided. Please bring digital photos on a USB drive. The photo albums will be sent to be printed and will be available to pick up at the school office in August.

    Friendship Club - Chelsea Johannesson (P/I, Skills) $150

    Can you imagine a world where all kids were kind to each other? What a place it would be if everyone played with everyone else and never ever gossiped or said mean things? This is the camp that every kid needs to take! We will discover what the Bible says about friendship and what each of us can bring to the friendships we have. The kids will improve their social skills by learning how to talk to new friends and make others feel welcome. They will also learn many new games that will transfer to the playground to help make recess and lunch that much more fun! Children will learn to make friendship bracelets using a Rainbow loom or gimp. Each participant will come home with their own rainbow loom, elastics and c-clips to make bracelets for friends all summer long!

    Field Game Fun! Jr. Edition – Rachael Cockrill (P/I, Games) $120

    Developing a lifelong passion for sport, recreation and physical activity is what this sports camp is all about! Campers will participate in a wide variety of different sports such as soccer, basketball, California kick ball, and capture the flag, as well as play new cooperative games and other fun activities. Each day will be full of the great outdoors, games, and extraordinary fun! This course is an adapted version of the regular field games fun for younger students. All activities will be adapted for younger campers to keep them having fun all week long.

    Fabric Art: Christmas in July – Cara Moore (P/I, Art) $185

    It's Christmas in July in the art room! This fun filled felt camp will combined fabric and crafty bits and paint to create beautiful felt Christmas Tree activity packs to take home and enjoy all year round or save for Christmas time. Children will practice fine motor skills as they trace patterns on felt, cut out the felt and assemble it into decorations for their beautiful felt trees. I am exciting to get jingle bell rocking the felt and glitter with all of you!

    The Voice! Vocal Camp - Chelsea Johannesson (I/M, Drama) $150

    PACE is very excited to bring back The Voice with instructor Chelsea Johannesson! Whether you want to improve your voice, or you have a great one already, you’ll want to join us in The Voice! Our campers will have a great time learning how to strengthen and project their voices while singing a variety of styles and learning how to sing in a group. No matter how long you've been singing, this camp is going to be an incredible fun and educational experience.

    Fun in the Sun Week 1 – Rachel Poon (P/I, Games) $120

    Do you like water slides, games and slip in slides? Then Fun in the Sun is the place for you! Throughout the week you will get to participate in various group games, enjoy our 2 jumbo slides and go for a ride on our giant slip and slide.

    Claymation – Evelyn Ford (I/M, Computer) $160

    Do you love creating stories and would like to learn how to make movies? Claymation, also known as Stop Motion Animation, brings clay figurines and other toys to life using photography and computer software. We will be using the very software used by the animators who made Chicken Run, Pirates! Band of Misfits, and the Lego Movie to bring your sculptures and toys to life! Participants are welcome to bring a USB device in order to take their work home at the end of the week.

    Badminton Extraordinaire! – Mandy Van Delden (I/M, Sports) $120

    Let’s get rallied up to play some badminton! Come and have some real fun learning how to better your badminton skills as well as participating in competitive mini games and tournaments!

    Touch! Science Camp – Rachael Cockrill (I/M, Science) $175

    Do you think Science rules!? Especially experiments that you get to hypothesis, create, and test out?

    “Touch” is a one week camp designed for fun and engaging hands on science experiments! Uncover great mysteries, learn wild facts, and experience countless new discoveries alongside new friends. If you are ready to take your science experiments to a new level, then join in on the lab experience and put your science skills and knowledge to the test!



  • Mosaics: Making Masterpieces out of Tile and Glass – Cara Moore (I/M, Art) $185

    Come explore the ancient art form of mosaics with a modern twist. We will be creating a beautiful wall mount masterpiece using ceramic tiles, glass tiles and gems, and goopy, messy grout. Whether you are excited to smash tiles with a hammer or you love doing puzzles, this camp will send you home a master of mosaic technique.

    Mini Dribblers Basketball Week 2 – Rainer Casido (P, Sports) $120

    Come and join an active basketball camp this summer where your child will engage in skill development and games all while having fun! Although this camp is focused on basic fundamentals of ball control and movement, it is open to all experience levels, whether it is your child's first time picking up a basketball, or if they can dribble in and out between their legs blindfolded, all are welcome!     Broadway Dreams: Musical Theatre Camp - Chelsea Johannesson (I/M, Drama) $150

    Love to sing, act, and dance? Broadway Dreams is a week-long camp that looks at the exciting journey of creating a musical drama. During the camp students will expand their skills in singing, acting, and movement, and at the end of the week they will show off their new talents in a short musical theatre presentation. Join us in this fun and exciting camp where you get to strengthen your voice, brush up your acting, and pick up your feet.

    Battle Games Jr – Tom Allen (P, Games) $120

    Join us for Battle Games Jr! It is going to be a wild adventure as we play every type of dodgeball! There will be obstacle courses, kick the can, and tug of war! We will also be playing Capture the Flag, Steal the Bacon, and much, much more! If you have tons of energy and love to run around then this camp is for you!

    Robotics Week 2 – John Kim (I/M, Robotics) $230

    Robotics class provides the educational system that begins with basic learning skill of building robots. For the most fundamental micro controller module and leads to components of LED, sound (buzzer), power (DC motor, motor) and sensor (contact sensor, wireless sensor) configuration. Following the variety of configuration theories, our advanced curriculum teaches block programming to ensure that the students learn about hardware and software with interest.

    Beginners Soccer – Jeff Wright (I/M, Sports) $120

    This camp will focus on the essentials of soccer, passing, dribbling, shooting, headers, and incorporating all of these together to work as a team. Each day will have drills focused on each of the core elements of the sport. Other aspects of the sport will be integrated into the camp as well such as throw-ins, and crosses. It is a beginner’s level soccer with a bit more advancement from Mini Kickers. Friday will be a day of scrimmages, and a potential mini tournament.

    Field Game Fun! – Rachael Cockrill (I/M, Games) $120

    Summer Olympic Games – Mandy Van Delden (I/M, Sports) $120

    FUN FUN FUN! No better way to describe it! There will be water balloons, hula hoops, variety of sport games, prizes to be won and so much more! Who is going to be the gold medalist of our Summer Olympic Games?!

From ancient Greek pottery to modern figurines, Clayworks is an expression of the heart, mind and soul. Calling all young sculptors! This course is for kids who like using their hands to create works of art. In this course, young learners will work with various materials such as kiln fire clay, polymer clay and playdough. We will make playdough from scratch, build clay masterpieces and glaze kiln fired projects. I'm looking forward to some messy hands and big smiles!

    NOTE: due to the time process and nature of clay, final pickup of projects is the following Tuesday after camp has come to an end during the lunch hour or at 4pm.

    Toastmasters Jr. – Chelsea Johannesson (I/M, Drama) $150

    This is a camp that everyone should take! In Toastmasters Jr., students will learn key communication and leadership skills that will help them in school and life. This camp will look at enhancing students' public speaking skills while learning how to be more comfortable with talking in front of an audience and increasing their self-confidence. In this camp, everyone is going to have a lot of fun as we learn together and get to perform some famous speeches from television and film.

    NHL Hockey – Tom Allen (P, Sports) $120

    Learn to play with like the greats! We will be playing ball hockey outside in the sunshine! There will be skill-building drills and plenty of games. At the end of the week we will split into teams and have a mini-tournament to see who will take home the Stanley Cup! Join us for fun and exercise as we play Canada’s sport!

    Ultimate Frisbee - Jeff Wright (I/M, Games) $120

    This will be a time to have fun while playing some competitive ultimate Frisbee. Rules will be established, skills competitions will be had, and discs will be thrown. Throughout the week, students will learn the basics of the game, how to properly throw a disc, and will have some fun while playing games against one another.

    Girl Power!! - Rachael Norman (I/M, Skills) $140

    “Girl Power” is all about the power of girls coming together and building one another up. This girls only summer course will provide a safe space for expression, creativity and originality. Working on personal awareness and social responsibility, girls will discover the unique impact that they can have in their community and the world. The week will be packed with art expression, writing journals, collaborative projects and even self-defense kickboxing moves! “Girl Power” is all about celebrating the unique person that God created you to be. We are stronger together than alone!



  • AIA Volleyball – Rebecca Garner (M, Sports) $120

    This Volleyball camp will be lead by one of our Athletes in Action (AIA) Summer Camp coaches. All of our coaches are current collegiate and university athletes. This camp will teach foundational skills as well as provide lots of opportunity for gameplay.

    Clayworks Level 3 – Cara Moore (I/M, Art) $185

    Clay, one of God's wonderful creations, has been used since ancient times to create functional as well as artistic pieces. From ancient Greek pottery to modern figurines, clayworks is an expression of the heart, mind and soul. Back by popular demand, Clayworks 3 is the most advanced level of clayworks we have to offer at PACE and we're super excited to be able to offer it this year. In Clayworks 3 we will be using both kiln fire clay and polymer clay and will be focusing on advanced clay techniques such as the fine detail of sculpting and glazing, using cast moulds and slip clay, as well as carving and making multileveled 3D pictures. We look forward to seeing you here!

    Picture This! – Alanna Banta (M, Photography) $130

    Have you ever wanted to take better photos but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re an experienced photographer or are just starting out, this camp is for you. We will look at how to refine your camera skills, how to take the most powerful picture, and how to edit your photos like a pro.

    Let's Build Week 3 – Deanna Carter (I/M, Skill) $130

    From popsicles sticks to KEVA Skyscrapers we will build bridges and building using fun and exciting materials. We will have a competition with prizes to finish off the week.

    Theatre Sports – Tom Allen (P/I, Drama) $120

    Students will learn all the different types of improvisational comedy and other theatre forms! They will get a chance to perform and work outside their comfort zone. From Freeze to Party Quirks there is plenty for everyone! This camp will also give students the chance to practice speaking in front of a crowd in a comfortable atmosphere. This is an excellent life skill to work on.

    Little Kickers Soccer – Jeff Wright (P, Sports) $120

    Each day will focus on beginner level soccer to nail down the basics. Passing, dribbling, shooting, and the last day will be all three together which will incorporate scrimmages. Each day will focus directly on one aspect of the sport which will include drills and fun games with potential prizes.

    Krafty Kids - Rachael Norman (P/I, Art) $140

    “Krafty Kids” students love all things creative and expressive! If this is you, then join in on the fun for a one week camp full of unique art projects! Learn new skills in drawing, painting, and creating works of art with new materials. Self-expression is a valuable skill, and this camp will help you to refine and increase your skills in art and design. If you are looking to be inspired and have some fun with art this summer, then grab your paint smock and get ready to become “Krafty Kids!” This underwater themed arts and crafts camp will have every “Krafty Kids” diving deep into the sea to make new discoveries. Everyday students will learn about a fascinating element of the ocean, and express their learnings through unique art projects. Splash into the world of art, sea creatures, and mysteries found in the great blue sea!

    July Madness Basketball – Mandy Van Delden (I/M, Sports) $120

    For all of those who love watching March Madness, this basketball camp is for you! Come learn how to improve your skills, make new friends, join a team, play in lots of scrimmages and prepare for your “July Madness” Tournament!

    Fabric Art: Amazing Appliqué – Cara Moore (I/M, Art) $185

    Do you LOVE art and want to try something you won't find elsewhere? Amazing Appliqué is the course for you! We will be working with beautiful hand dyed Batik fabrics to make custom, one of a kind, fabric art work. We'll be making one wall-mount piece, one functional art piece and one self-design piece. Come join me for a week of learning something totally different, making masterpieces through my personal favourite art medium, fabric.
     
     

    Multi-Sport – Mandy Van Delden (P/I, Sports) $120

    Can’t decide on one sport because you love them all?! Join us with a different sport each day (basketball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, and kickball) for a week full of fun, games, and a variety of awesome activities!

    Youth Filmmaking – Alanna Banta (M, Film) $135

    Lights! Camera! Action! In Youth Filmmaking students will be introduced to the process of how to tell compelling and exciting stories through video. From storyboarding, to filming, and editing their own videos, students will work together to make their stories come to life.

    Fun in the Sun Week 3 – Rachel Poon (P/I, Games) $120

    Do you like water slides, games and slip in slides? Then Fun in the Sun is the place for you! Throughout the week you will get to participate in various group games, enjoy our 2 jumbo slides and go for a ride on our giant slip and slide.

    Battle Games – Tom Allen (I, Games) $190

    We will be running around the field playing all sorts of games like capture the flag, kick the can, tug of war, and more! We go off campus for laser tag and extreme air park. It’ll be a great way to have fun and spend some time in the sun! Students will get plenty of exercise and learn to work as a team.

    Advanced Soccer – Jeff Wright (I/M, Sports) $120

    This camp will be for intermediate and middle school aged students. While still maintaining the aspect of learning the importance of passing, dribbling, shooting, and other elements of the sport, it will be at a more advanced level mixing in tougher drills and harder work. Monday to Wednesday will be touching on the basics, while Thursday will include a skills competition (target practice, juggling, etc), and Friday will be a tournament.

    Little Scientist Camp Week 3– Rachael Norman (P/I, Science) $175

    Calling all “Little Scientists” out there! Are you ready to be amazed this summer? Come discover all things colourful, slimy, and bendable! This one week camp is designed for fun and engaging hands on science experiments. Students will have the chance to try new things, play with new materials and test out wild experiments alongside friends. “Little Scientists” is all about having awe and wonder for this big world we live in. There are so many discoveries to be made… come join in on the fun!



  • Tech it Up! – Alanna Banta (M, Computer) $150

    In this course, students will dive into the world of tech. From learning the basics of coding through games and team-building activities, to creating a universe with 3-D modelling, and using Photoshop to create some crazy creatures, campers will have the chance to do it all!

    Mini Dribblers Basketball Week 4 – Mandy Van Delden (P, Sports) $120

    Basketball is a fun sport and that's what we want kids to experience here! The goal is to learn the basic skills of basketball, learn how to work together with your teammates, to enjoy playing the game and to never give up!

    Picasso Painting Jr. - Cara Moore (P, Art) $185

    Come Discover the beauty and fun of painting! In Picasso Painting Jr young artists will have the opportunity to learn about colour and different painting surfaces as we try out a variety of paints ranging from face to fabric, from tempura to water colour with some acrylics and glitter for good measure. Join in this fun group as we get artsy, crafty and maybe just a little silly.

    NOTE: Not all of the paints will be washable. Please make sure to dress your child accordingly and/or send them with a smock/oversized shirt to protect their clothes.

    Battle Games Extreme – Tom Allen (M, Games) $190

    Battle. Games. Extreme. The name says it all. This camp is for those who love adventure and excitement. For those who love a challenge and most of all, who love having fun! Extreme Paintball. Extreme Laser Tag. Extreme Dodgeball. Everything we do is EXTREME! If you are ready for the battle of a lifetime then this camp is for you!!!

    Lights! Camera! Action! Musical Theatre Camp Week 4 – Sue Wright (I/M, Drama) $160

    Is your inner singer, dancer, and actor wanting to break out? Do you want to learn about Musical Theatre? Are you excited to be part of a team of new friends, learn amazing songs, experience something new, have fun with choreography? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then sign up for “Lights, Camera, Action!” and showcase your inner STAR talent in a fun, nurturing, music-filled environment!

    Little Scientist Camp Week 4 – Rachel Norman (P/I, Science) $175

    An Introduction to Movie Special Effects – Alanna Banta (M, Computer) $160

    In this course, students will have the opportunity to use Adobe After Effects to create a variety of special effects. From creating lightsabers, to adding fog, rain, or snow to change the weather of a scene, to crafting intricate opening credit sequences, students will learn the power of post-production in filmmaking.

    SPS Basketball Camp – Mandy Van Delden (I/M, Sports) $120

    SPS stands for Shooting, Passing, and Scoring! This camp will focus on the fundamentals skills of a player in the game of basketball. We will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, seeing the whole court and displaying good leadership! Whether you play a guard position or not, anyone can benefit from joining this camp!

    Picasso Painting Sr. - Cara Moore (I/M, Art) $185

    Come let your creative juices flow and practice painting with a variety of paints on a variety of surfaces. We'll explore some creative ways to use various painting mediums to create special effects such as Acrylic pouring. From Watercolor to fabric paint and everything in between, we'll make masterpieces great and small all week long! Let's get our splatter on!

    NOTE: Most of the paints are non-washable. It's best to wear clothes that can get paint on them and/or an oversized shirt or art smock. You are also welcome to bring your favourite pencils, erasers, and scissors to work with.

    Fun in the Sun Week 4 – Rachel Poon (P/I, Games) $120

    Aqua Fun Swim Camp – Tom Allen (P/I, Swimming) $130

    Join us for an awesome week of swimming! We will be swimming in a local pool and playing a lot of games that will also help build strong skills. Students will learn how to become comfortable in the water as well as safety skills. There will be plenty of time to play and experience all the fun that water has to offer!

    Gym Game Frenzy – Jeff Wright (I/M, Games) $120

    This course allows students to have fun in the gymnasium while playing fun games such as four corner soccer, dodgeball, california kick ball, line tag, the boat game, and many more fun gym games. There will be competitions, exciting games, and lots of fun!

    Krafty Kids – Rachael Norman (P/I, Art) $140

    Looking to get your creative and artistic juices flowing this summer? Join in on the fun for a one week camp exploding with paint, markers, and colours!
